About
This breathtakingly beautiful French Country Manor is located just outside of downtown Aspen and is situated on a lot full of trees for ultimate privacy, yet it offers incredible views of all the surrounding mountains. This residence would be comfortable among the most prestigious of European homes.
The beautiful, oversized wood and glass front door provides immediate access to gorgeous mountain views. The entry is grand and gracious with heated slate floors and almost floor to ceilings windows. There is incredible woodwork throughout the home, from the wood detailing in the ceilings to handsome custom-made cabinets and intricate wood banisters and handrails. Plaster and integrated painted walls combine with the honey-colored wide plank flooring to create an atmosphere of luxury and warmth.
To the right of the entry is the living room which is separated visually by round-arched columns. A wood-burning fireplace is the focus of the room and it is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors. Antiques, wonderful subtle art, beautiful sofas, and chairs in soothing neutral shades, offer a multitude of seating options and create a warm, inviting atmosphere. A small bar enclosed in a nook just off the living room has a small sink and fridge for easy access to refreshments.
To the right of the front door is a small hallway that leads to an octagonally shaped dining room which is filled with light from floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors. The antique farmhouse dining table seats 10 and is topped by an antique whimsy of a chandelier. There is a small deck off the dining room with a gas grill as well.
The kitchen is large and open and warmed by the wide plank honey-colored floors, plaster walls, and a small wood-burning fireplace. The custom cabinets are not only useful but gorgeously hand-crafted and fun. The massive Viking Range has 6 gas burners plus a small grill and double ovens. The appliances include an under-counter microwave, a Traulsen fridge and freezer, and a dishwasher, faced with a wooden door to match the other cabinets. A walk-in pantry, TV, and center island which seats 6 comfortably finish off this special place which tends to make it a great gathering place for all.
A half flight of stairs up is the air-conditioned Primary Suite. The room features a King bed with beautiful linens, an antique cupboard, which houses the TV, desk, 2 chairs, and an ottoman for reading and relaxing. French doors lead out to a small balcony with “I can see forever” views. The huge Primary Main bath has the same old-world feel. The free-standing porcelain tub occupies its own niche and is surrounded by windows with more glorious views. A complete and very private sanctuary.
Up another half flight of stairs from the Primary Suite is a large, air-conditioned office that is filled with light radiating from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Up one last half flight of stairs are French doors leading to a sun deck with views and privacy. It is the perfect place to practice your summer meditations and yoga. A half flight of stairs down from the kitchen is the mud room.
On the next level are three guest rooms all with ensuite baths, a large family and game room plus the laundry room. Massive windows and French doors bring light to all the rooms and give access to the large, private, outdoor patio area.
